Stumping on the mountain
« on: June 03, 2012, 06:08:00 PM »
Just returned from a couple of days on the mountain. I was in what I hope to be my elk area this year, so I was happy to see this scene on my morning hikes.

The mountain flowers are starting to show their bright side, but in a couple more weeks they should be spectacular. Shooting stars are some of the first mountain species to appear...

Did a bit of fishing, but the streams are still a bit in runoff. The scenery, however, is pretty nice.

A few stumps were harmed as I continue to try and keep my shooting eye sharp; hunting season is only a couple of months away.

I will be spending more and more time in the high country now that the summer weather is upon us. I'm waiting impatiently for September, cool days, and (hopefully) bugling elk.
