What do you do with your robin hoods?
« on: June 04, 2012, 05:24:00 PM »
The first time I robin hooded an arrow I thought I was pretty cool.  Still have the two arrows together and wondering what I should do with it.  Seperate them and keep the good arrow or hang it in the garage.  I thought this is one in a million.  Well I did it again last night.  Still cool when you look at it until but that is short lived with the price of arrows.  If they were in middle of my target I would post a pic, but to my shame they were not perfect shots.  Anyway, just wondering what you all do with these arrows as I am seeing this is not as uncommon as I first believed.

Obviously, this is a personal thing.  I am not one of these super shots, but have done this numerous times.  If you are decent, and shoot a lot of arrows, it will happen. That said, the novelty kind of wears off pretty quickly.  I kept the first couple. Now I just take a pic and save the good arrow.  I guess I am just cheap.  :)

Congrats on good shooting though!

Most religions teach that you earn salvation by keeping rules. Jesus didn't teach that "good people" go to heaven. He taught that "forgiven people" go to heaven. And He invited everyone, no matter what their past, to come to Him and be forgiven.

I split an arrow (not a true robin hood) outside of center of target. But, as I was told, "May not be centered, but your form is consistent". A little ray of hope   :bigsmyl:  I cut mine down and let my 5 year old shoot it.

Since I only shoot one arrow, retrieve it and then shoot it again, I never have any robin hoods.    :D

I have done it a few times myself.

At first I kept them. They always seemed to be in the way though.

I now just use the other good arrow. In my case it was luck and I am more prone to loose an arrow than Robinhood one! Ha!

I can use all the arrows I can get my hands on.

I chuck the trashed arrow and save and shoot the good one.  Robin hoods really aren't rare.  If you shoot a half-dozen arrows at the same point, it shouldn't take many shots to robin hood or otherwise damage an arrow that's already in the target. When I'm shooting targets, I use a five spot target to avoid robin hoods.  On 3-Ds, I rarely shoot more than one arrow at the same critter.  Do like to Robin hood other folks arrows in the target though.   :archer:    :dunno:

I cry a little, then say a few choice words, then get over it and except it for what it is, a waste of $, then cry a little bit more. Happy to say I have stopped counting or saving them.

A true Robin hood, hits the center of your target and the very next arrow, Robin Hood's the first. So just shooting at the target with a lot of arrows doesn't count.

funny this thread comes up today, I just recieved my new arrow saw the other day. opened up the drawer that I keep my ruined arrows in thinking that I am going to save a couple that are still usable. I keep hoping that I will look in there and find one that I can use again. that is the reason I still keep mine, I have eleven of them. Which now that I think about it I have ruined almost a dozen arrows(ouch)I take a file to the point end and retrieve my brass inserts.

I hung the first one in my garage and have trashed the next several.  It's pretty cool the first time, but after that I hate loosing the arrows :-(

I save all of mine. I usually pull out the good arrow and replace it with a bent or damaged arrow.

I'm up to 27 RobinHoods now. Since I switched to the skinny carbons, they don't come as often as they used to!   :archer2:

I put these up in the shop and since then I take them apart and use the good arrow. Seems a waste to not use them.

I just save the good arrow... I've found that by shooting bullet point field tips, I almost never robin hood anymore. The bullet points are hard to find in the heavier weights but they work great and they're easier on your targets too.

Saved the first one.  Shot two in one night with a longbow.  The first one was "cool".  The second was "Darn!", or something close to that.

I currently have more memory than money, so I don't keep them.  I salvage what I can and throw away the rest.
