As I posted a couple months back, I've jumped back into shooting again after pretty much going dorment in 2006. I bought an used Dryad Orion longbow last year and shot it pretty good. I went to the Dryad website to see about maybe ordering some new limbs for it and noticed they discontinued that early design, so I ordered a new ACS RC instead. Hope to have it later this month.
THEN... I started trying to play catch-up here and elsewhere and THAT can be VERY dangerous to the checkbook!!!
I started seeing bows I never noticed before in a new light and found a Fox Breed locally for sale and bought that. Then on a recent trip to Wisconsin, I had the good fortune to stop by Kevin and Sue TerMaat's place and try the entire line of RER Bows. I left with an order in for a new 62" Arroyo!!! The TerMaat's are VERY NICE folks and excellent sales people (actually, they quietly let the bows do the talking and just knowingly smile when you say "I gotta have one!!!")
Then the Hill Longbow thread sucked me in and I started reading on here about the subtle differences in styles and designs and eventually e-mailed Steve Turay of Northern Mist and after a conversation with him the other day, I confirmed an order for one of his Shelton's! Steve's another super nice guy!!!
THEN....I saw a Longbow made by a maker I had also read up on listed in the St. Jude Auction and decided to get some bidding action going, hoping to raise some funds for a GREAT cause!!! Well, you guessed it, I now have a KISA Protege Diamondback en-route along with 2 strings and a soft case from Oliverstacy!!! Thanks Al and Josh for the SUPER GENEROUS DONATIONS!!!!
I also had the pleasure of conversing with South Cox of Stalker Bows, Kirk Lavender of Bigfoot Bows, Allen Boice of Liberty longbows fame and Steve Abbott and his business partner Chris(?) of Abbott Longbows at the Western States Rendezvous this past Memorial Day Weekend and I have to say... They ALL may be hearing from me again!!! They each had a bow I want to play with for an extended time someday. Thanks for spending time answering all my dumb questions fellas...You Guys are Awesome!!!
Anyway...I think I have to slow waaaaaaay down before my AWESOME Wife advises me I'll be living in a tent in the yard.
Good times are ahead, but I think I NEED to shut the computer off again for a few years!!!
Anyone else having this problem??? I hear admitting it is the first step. Go ahead, share your experiences!!! It may save me from the tent if my Wife knows I'm not the only one... heck, she may even take pity on me. :D
A HUGE Thanks Again to everyone listed above and to everyone here for keeping the lifestyle alive!!!
All the Best,
Stump
