Wow, I didn't realize that seal fur was hard to get by in the US.
I will order a tanned pelt to make sure I have some available. Luckily we do have a sustainable seal industry here in Canada.

I used velcro for afew years it  is cheap and works well..but I switched to the thin adhesive backed leather that 3Rivers sells and it lasts much longer..Helen shoots at least 500 shots every week and I  was  replacing the  velcro  every few weeks, she has been using the thin leather rest and side  plate since january and it looks like it will last another 5 months. I dont know about shooting in cold weather,  I  hunt and will be using  leather if it  makes noise its not on my bow for long

I've been using the Bear Hair rests with good luck. I've had luck with velcro as well however it just doesn't look as good IMO.

Velcro

"I don't like velcro because if you have any sharp points on the tip of your fletch it wants to snag in the loops"

Roll your tips and glue.

I made a couple feather rests and really like them. Used 5 feathers, 1" long, 3/8" high with the two outer feathers 1/16" higher, mounted on thin piece of leather. glued them down tight against each other. Lasted all fall and winter. Making a few more up now.
didn't understand - now I do.

I don't like Velcro. Maybe it's just in my head but it seems like the fletching would easily get caught up in it and throw the shot off. I like seal skin the best but it is not legal to sell anymore.

I really like thin pigskin leather with the nap exposed.  Last way longer than velcro.
