Any natural material ground blind pics out there?
« on: August 01, 2007, 08:09:00 PM »
I love hunting the national forests in Texas. I know that is not always easy here in Texas but that is my favorite. Been on leases, don't really care much for the feeder thing. I'd like to see anyones natural ground blinds.

I've used this one for 3 years now. Have take a few deer from here. Add a little to it each year but yet leave it pretty natural.

I had one of those stools and they sucked because they sink in the ground, so I went back to a fold up stool that the legs are just a pipe that is bent into a loop so they don't sink. And it folds up flat. Just like a lawn chair with no back and smaller, if that make any sence.

All three locations have produced deer. The last photo, I hug the tree, large stonewall fence behind me, 18 yd downhill shot.

The one with me kneeling, looks like I'm exposed but the deer come around a large knob and when they step out, its a 15 yd shot, and I'm partially hidden by the large log.

The pic where I'm next to a large tree with leaves...again, perfect trail, quartering away shot at 18 yds. Plenty of trees for the deer to walk behind so I can draw my bow undetected.

I had a stool like huntnut described,but it finally broke. The 3-legger did suck cause it sank in the ground till I turned a round end on some 1 1/4" stock and drove em in the legs. Made it about 6" taller and don't sink nearly as bad! LOL  The three legger is easier to get set than the lawnchair type,but I'd like to have one of those with a back!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

joe skipp, great pics.  For your middle picture I would have probably been sitting on my Torges-style seat.

I prefer to hunker close to the ground then ease up slowly to a kneeling position. I'm sure that Torges seat would soften would work great and ease the "load" on my backside!

Love the ground blinds; the seat that I love to use is called the buck seat by all-terrain-seats; their web site is allterrainseat.com; if that is not it you can go to any search engine on the web and type in all terrain seats; taht will get you there for sure; I bought mine through bass pro; about 59.00 but well worth it;

thanks for the feedback guys...I mostly hunt outta treestands but always exploring new ground and with two bad knees, I can't kneel for very long...thought that the swivel stool might help but wasn't sure about its durability.

I usually scout around or still hunt and find dead fall and blowdowns to sit in.  I will take a fold up canvas stool to sit on as it is more comfortable and has a back on it to lean against.

Here is a small    :rolleyes:   Bur Oak blowdown that I used last December (we had some fierce winds last fall and that tree wasn't hollow).  Even though I had to wear orange during the firearms season I had several deer around me.

I use that three legged stool too and had problems with it sinking (as well as uneven terrain).  Has anyone experimented with attaching some sort of disks to the feet to help prevent this?
