short longbows long draw

are there any 56-58"longbows that will handle a 29 3/4" draw?

jesse, Ron Laclair told me his 56" shrew would handle my 30" draw with no problem. Also Leon Stewarts little slammer will handle that draw well and I can personally gaurantee Leons bows are awsome, Im shooting a 68" slammer and it is quickley becoming my favorite all time bow.

I find that interesting I was told with my 30" draw I should shoot something in the 64 to 66 range. Anything shorter might cause a stacking problem....

Robert, keeep in ming bow designs are very different. Bowyers today are creating short bows that work with long draws to make it easier to move in the woods. I would suggest talking to the bowyer of your choice to see what they suggest.

A lot of a bow depends on how much Reflex/Deflex and overall design. Secondly it then has to do with certain tapers a bow has in it. Thirdly is the overall riser length from fade to fade. I would go with a 56" bow with a 14" handle and lots of R/D and not a lot of taper. Just my thoughts Chad

I own a Shrew Classic Hunter 56" and a Big Jim Thunder Chid 58". They handle my 30" draw (30"1/2 when I am joyfull)with absolutly no problem.

You are not going to get away from string pinch even it is smooth on the draw.  I think going with a longer bow gives insurance in a hunting shot.  opinions will vary...

I have an honest 31.5 draw and I can say my 58" and 60" kanati longbows are shootable and Red wing hunters are shootable but not as comfortable as 64 to 70" bows....It helps to drop down in the wieght of the shorter bows

I just got back from a hog hunt shooting a 58"  Hill Country Wildcat.  I draw 29, sometimes a little more when fully expanded and my bow handles it with no problem.  Roman said that is the max for this bow, maybe 29 1/2.  And I have shot this bow well over 5000 shots with no ill effects. Super accurate, points instinctively and super easy to tune with amazing craftsmanship. The bow is bombproof.

I'm with Jeff on this one. I've bought and sold about every short LB that would handle my draw but I shot them poorly. I like at least 64".

I ordered a 56" Yeti from Kirk at Big Foot Bows last year. When he and I got to talking about long draw string angle and pinch he sent me pictures of two bows on the tree being pulled to 32". The first was 56" and the second was 60", after seeing that I went with the 60" Sasquatch in my sig. I love this bow and I'm so glad I listened to the bowyer about the capabilities and limitations of different designs.

I don't care if a bow stacks 2, 3, or 4 pounds in that last inch of draw, it's that pinch that kills you.

I'm also in agreement with Jeff and Davey when it comes to string pinch aka "short bows and long draws".

I draw 29 and like a 60" bow.  I shoot a Griffen longbow.  Recurve is also a 60" but it seems you can go shorter with them.

There are definitely short "longbows" out there that can handle your draw, but that doesn't mean you will shoot them better than a more traditional longer bow.  Bows that are reflexed with a more forward handle typically can take a longer draw relative to overall length.  I draw 29.5" on a 60" longbow and finger pinch doesn't seem to be a problem, but the next guy my size may completely disagree.
