Manitoba Black Bear
« on: June 12, 2012, 02:38:00 PM »
Just got back from the Duck Mountains Forest in Manitoba.  This guy wouldn't come in to the bait so I fooled him by going in early with my climber.  Had to sit almost all day but eventually he came in, he checked out the ladder stand and when he saw it was empty he made the mistake of walking right past my tree.  He weighed in at 391 lbs with a green score of 19.5"

Another beast. What do feed those bears up there in Manitoba?

It was a warm winter and the bears did not use up all their fat stores. Many came out with heavy fat in the spring this year.  Great job. Nice bear. Good for you!!! Mike

You're absolutely right Herdbull, this guy still had 3 inches of fat on his hind end.  A personal best for me regardless of the weight.
