St Jude’s Shenanigans
« on: June 12, 2012, 04:43:00 PM »
A lot goes on during a St Jude's auction and even if you are participating you can miss out on a key detail.  Such was the case with me when I surrendered the lead bid on some older goldtip shafts a quiver, and some assorted nocks to Greyfox54 AKA Fred Gimbel.  When he outbid me I called him a "dog".  His response was, "You have no idea!" and he was right.  I forgot about the whole deal...until today...

The UPS guy dropped the aforementioned St. Jude's loot off at my door this afternoon with a simple note attached.  "Thanks for a great time in Georgia.  Fred and Jay"

The year before last I hosted a St Jude's hunt in Ga that Fred won for his grandson and himself.  I thoroughly enjoyed hunting with the two of them.  Today's unexpected gift brought all those memories back and a smile to my face.  Tradgang truly is a special place and the St. Jude's Charity auction is like nothing else. And Fred Gimbel?  He's a pretty cool guy...

Thanks, Fred!

  Folks who don't participate in the St. Jude auction miss out on sooooo much fun.  No better way to brighten your day as well as that of kids who need it so much.  Can't wait until next time already.

Just told another TG'er about Fred the other day. How he had an 80# Dan Quillan for sale a few years back just a little too short for me. Never heard bad of Fred. Arrow/quiver story is one of a number. First Class stuff Fred!

Gregg,
Don't know if you remember or not but several years back Fred run up on a drop dead deal on Summit SOP harnesses that were last year's model and bought a bunch of them. He was thinking of his fellow tradgangers and offered them up for what he got them for. I was able to get one and still think of Fred's thoughtfullness some mornings when strapping in. Fred is good people in my book ! Inspires me to try and be like Fred each day. I am constantly telling Mason, " Think of others ! " Fred is one we want to emulate.
