HIT Inserts

Was just wondering if anyone has used glues other than epoxy to put these in. I've got some FMJ's and am considering trying some MFX's, but I'm wondering about tuning. I know I've read where guys cut them from the nock end once inserts are installed, but if you had to cut too much, then you're looking at refletching. Just curious if anyone with more experience than I had any ideas. Thanks...Cory

Haven't shot my FMJ's a lot (and haven't hit anything solid - like wood) but have used hot melt on the inserts without problems.

I put a piece if tape on my point to get a tight friction fit so that it is removable to trim the shaft. I'm not sure it makes a difference but I also alternate and trim from both sides of the shaft for carbons. Not sure if that helps with FMJ's but I did anyway. I used to not care but now I would recommend bare shaft tuning.

I've got some of the blue hot melt and have used it on other carbons. I really like it, I just wasn't sure with the HIT inserts. Thanks again....Cory

The blue works great you just have to stop just before the insert goes in and wipe off the excess glue then shove the rest of the way in.

Yup hot melt.   Heat up the insert too as it gives you longer work time and better adhesion.

If you cut from the nock end you do it to a bare shaft, not a fletched one.

I do the saran wrap on the point end and shoot into a target I can retrieve any points that pull out. Most don't.

I just push my HIT inserts in with alittle saran wrap around the insert to hold it snug for tuning.I like to tune mine with the wraps already installed,so cutting from the nock end doesnt work for me.I get my tuning done quickly and easliy,then I'll epoxy the inserts in.I tune all my carbons this way,works great for me!

hot melt is fine just easy on the heat.
