Camo question
« on: June 16, 2012, 01:48:00 PM »
I have a pair of my dad's old BDU's from his national guard days; these are the pre digital kind. Anyone hunt with these or have any thoughts on how well they break up your pattern?

You're good to go buddy!
I love woodland camo.

The only problem I've encountered with military stuff is sometimes it's made from loud fabrics.

I know Rob uses woodland...at least he used to.
Seen some bloody hogs with him behind them wearing woodland..

Folks have been hunting in military camo as long as it has been made. No reason it would not work.

They work great. No shine and large color that wont blend together at a distance.  To test it hang it in the shade and view it from 50 or so yards and then put it in the sun and do the same.  You would be surprised how much of the modern camo looks like a solid blob at that distance.

Woodland is great, especially when the surrounding foliage is still green.

Older stuff that's been worn and broken in will probably have a softer feel and quieter when moving through brush too.

When I got out of the Army, my old BDU's were all the camo I had. I never felt like I was handicapped by NOT having the commercial stuff. That pattern will work just about anywhere.

Camo just comes down to personal preference. Some like it, some don't. Me, I like camo. But, when it comes to patterns, that's a different animal altogether.    ;)

Heres the scoop...I wore my daughters Army BDUs and Field Jacket for a few years with no concealment problems. The best part was: I did'nt have to change the name tape. You should have no problem. All my best.

I like it all. Except the real expensive stuff. Good quality clothing does last tho. My Winona Camo vest is about 25 years old.
