Dowel maker

Does anyone know if the dowel machine called the Arrow Shooter that Three Rivers used to carry is still being made?  If so were can I find one?  Any input on how well it worked?  I did find one called Veritas but it works like a pencil sharpener rather than a router style.

The machine you are looking for is called a"Shaft Shooter", I don't think they are made anymore.

I you are crafty you could make a router shaft machine. I made one that worked pretty well but I had to buy my Doug Fir boards from Lowe's so the cost of making a dozen shafts wasn't a great savings over commercial shafts.

I got a wide variety of spines from one board which was frustrating when it came to matching.

I spent a lot of time making jigs and setting up my router table.
Made some decent shafts. Just like Eric I had a wide range of spines.
The cost of good boards was, also a,detergent, rather spend my time making bows.
The veritas tool actually does a,good job.
If you really are interested I would suggest the CD Building the Footed arrow by Connie and Gary Renfro.
Lots of good info in there.
