Cat hunting?
« on: June 19, 2012, 10:03:00 AM »
Hey Guys,
Since my plans fell through on a spring bear hunt I am thinking of putting the funds towards a winter Mountain Lion hunt! Looking for some recomendations from some of you cat hunters! Any outfitters cater more towards us trad hunters? Where should I start looking for a mature tom?
  Thanks guys!

Check with Fred Eichler at Full Draw Outfitters. I know he does hunt lions and we all know he caters to trad. Best of luck to ya!

There's a guy in Utah that works some for Fred (at least did last year) that runs lions. I believe Fred has dogs bred from this guys dogs. From what I understand, they (the Utah outfit) can run lions without snow! And they have a very high success rate with mostly Toms taken. I'll try and get the name and number (I can't remember) and PM you.

i took a 200# Tom with Sunrise Outfitting in Utah.  Leroy and Lloyd are two of the hardest working guides i have ever met.  they both have their own dogs and will run two hunters at a time.  if first hunters gets a cat then both guides work to get the other their cat.  They will hunt on dry and snow - but highly recommend snow. i can give you alot more details and Pics if interested.

I took a cat with Full Draw Outfitters (Fred Eichler) back in '05.  Great hunt and would recommend him for it.

I'll second Sunrise Outfitters. I took my cat with Leroy a few years back. He is a very hard working lion guide, you would be hard pressed to find a harder working outfitter. Leroy offered a bounce back policy of coming back a second time at half price, if you were unable to get your lion the first trip. He has a wed site, just google Sunrise Outfitters.
