Groves Mag II Brace Height
« on: June 19, 2012, 11:56:00 PM »
Hey guys, I just put a new B-50 flemmish string on my 62" Groves Mag II with a Proline riser and was just wondering what brace height some of you that have experience with this bow are using or have used with success.
                      Thanks and God Bless, Steve
Groves Mag II 66# @ 28",          Groves Mag II 55# @ 28",           Groves Magnum 44# @ 28"

Groves came in both hunting and target model recurves in various lengths. If your Groves is a 62" hunting recurve, try a brace height between 7"-8".

When I was much younger, the 62" Magnum II hunting recurve I shot, the sweet spot was between 7 1/2"-8" depending on what aluminum arrow and point weight I was shooting at the time.

With the above stated, keep in mind I have a 30" draw length.

The 62" target models, the sweet spot was usually between 8"-8 1/2", but these recurves didn't come in heavy poundages so if your bow is 64#, I would first try the 7"-8" brace height.

I've shot Groves bows since the late 60's. 7 3/8" always seemed to work best for  me. If you are interested I have an unused set of 55# limbs for your bow that I don't need. PM me if you are interested.

The sweet spot on mine is 7 1/8th.

Depends a lot on the string itself : how many strands, do you tend to keep the bow strung, and is noise under control with the silencers you've installed.  Lowering brace height (e.g. to 6 1/2") will give you more speed but it'll be more noisy..which is OK sometimes but probably of no real value.
