RW,
   Thanks.I appreciate the information.

Steve,
205-207 with a 10 gpp arrow? I know you will not publish the name of the brand, but, would you PM the information? Thank you.

Matt: I have never shot a bow in my life , stickbow that is that shot 215 at 10 gpp as you have said that the Fazio bow does. I';m from MO . Bro.I'm not questioning your word or integrity but I sure question that figurel

First those are glass bows from what I understand and to the best of my knowledge there is not even a double carbon recurve shooting that speed today. I know what the super fast bows today are shooting and that is in the 205 to 207 area max at 10 gpp.  That is when the bows are accurately tested with a Hooter Shooter and double chronographs ect/

God bless you all, Steve
Well, hmmm? Let me answer both questions.

I have shot the Kwyk Styk and they are blazingly quick and easy to shoot.

As for the 215 FPS, Uh? John Fazio passed on so we can't ask him. I have never chronoed my 82# Ballistick, so I can't say 215 FPS from personal experience. Seems like it though, LOL.

Here is a link to John's old website. It says, "an honest 215 FPS" but it does not state Arrow Weight. So, I guess I can't empirically back up my comment. Perhaps, some other Ballistick Owners can.

Thanks Matt. I kind of thought something like that might be the case. Bowyers often post speeds and sometimes fail to post the arrow weight compared to bow weight. You have to have that in order to judge how fast a bow really is. For instance your Ballistick would have to shoot an 820 grain arrow 215 fps.

God bless you all, Steve

I believe John was referring to 215 AMO speed.  That would be 9gpp at 30".  I hunted with him a few times back when he was getting started.

No secret on this: Border HEX 6 recurve and probably Dryad ACS with bolt (not ILF) are very close to this: but on shooting machine, with low strand string with minimal or no serving, and Brace height lower than 7 " and no silencers on string....

When you and me get the bow in the purpose of hunting it will be different: 7,5" BH (or more...) : -4 fps , fur or wool silencers and central serving -3 or 4 fps, shooting with your fingers if you have a fair release : - 4 fps.
In the real world if you get something in the 192-193 fps out of these bow it will be marvelous (and a really great performance..)

....And of course if those limbs blew,  speed is zero fps or just the speed you can get throwing your arrow like a spear   :D

They don't make these anymore.

I knew Curtis and Rick Byrd two bowyers of Texas Recurves and Longbows in Center Point Tx who made these.  We hunted together
He needed a fax machine and I had an extra one.  Back then fax machines were rather expensive.  He made me one for the fax machine.

He made the Comanche and the Kiowa static tips.
This is a Kiowa
Very good bow. Has brought down several deer.

Ok, so in order to get an honest 200 with a 10gpp,with a finger release, silencers, etc, we would need something on the order of 220 on the machine?

Think that is possible with a static tip?

got my epics.  string I had was only short enough to get 6.5" but the draw is real smooth. have to wait for my string to come in before I can test fire it.

220 fps @ 28" for 10 gpp  traditional bow doesn't exist whatever the design, and most probably will not for the coming years. And actually when i wrote those brand are close to that speed, that means in fact they are close to 200 fps @ 28" and 10 gpp on a shooting machine but pretty sure no bowyer reached that 200 fps level with a bow he will warranty for a descent time...

Here's another I'm very happy with... a 54 static tipped "dual shelf" Grizzly

Not a speed demon but considering it's age... very fun and enjoyable to shoot.

Just to add to this thread,

I just received an RER Arroyo in the mail today and I am super impressed.  Havent had a chance to really see how it shoots, but for anybody in the static tip market I would give Kevin and Sue serious consideration.

I always liked the look of a Palouse bow but shooting it is another matter  ;)
