To Hot to Fish? (pics)
« on: June 21, 2012, 10:12:00 PM »
2 days ago I scouted a local canal (Erie) that is landlocked and holds some small carp.  Fish and Turtles were coming out of my ears. I did not have my bow in hand due to having my dogs with me.

Fast forward 2 days in the high 90's.......

to answer my posted question....

Not tonight..Ken Thornhill and I went anyways despite profusely sweating from every inch of skin.

There were far fewer sightings but we still managed to see a few.

Congrats are in Order to Good ol' Thorny on his first carp via the bow.

If anyone knows Ken he is a crack shot and it didn't take long to figure out the whole refraction thing.

Beautiful shot and nice Fish Ken.

I managed to get one in also.

Jeff, I am not sure about ADK cactus but it seems to do well in my yard, even through our winters.

Today seems to be the day it bloomed, probably likes the heat, kind of a rare treat for us So I thought I would shae with the reat of you.

Thorny can shoot great. He didnt earn the titkle eagle eye by shooting like a lump. I just wish there were more fish out for him. My suspision is they were on the bottom where it was cooler, like I said, 2 days prior (before the heat spell) I say at least 50-60 fish in range.

What Charlie failed to mention, was that fish he is holding was shot at maximum reel length. It was out far enough that it took every inch of line he had in his spool.  Nice shot Charlie, and thanks for the great time.

LOL, that was the farthest I have ever shot a carp, wasnt sure I would get enough penetration. I held about a foot and a half over the fish.
It was a lucky shot I guess it was about 15-20 yards or so.

A lot of turtles out again but none were real large. they do not open for another month, by that time we will see a lot less of them as they stay on the bottom for hours on end.
