Will be first year hunting pronghorn, and have a few ideas id like to run by all of you as far as setups go. First off, i know any bow thatll kill a deer will kill pronghorn, but my normal deer setup is a #55 Bear Montana with 160gr Snuffers on german pine shafts that were soaked in Watco Danish Oil (total arrow weight of 675gr), also use this setup for elk with a 160gr STOS in place of the Snuffer. I recently started playing around with Lodgepole Pine/Chundoo, and get what i feel is a little more "Range", based on my normal way of shooting the heavier shafts instinctively. These shafts have a finished arrow weight in the neighborhood of 555gr. It makes perfect sense to me that the 120gr difference in arrow weight would add a little distance to my normal comfort zone since its only about 20-25yds anyway
As the weeks go by will my instinctive shooting become more in tuned to the lighter weight arrows that push my range out around 30yds? I can visibly notice the flatter trajectory that these arrows have over my old standbys, if i can notice it i wonder how much gain in speed im getting as the bow was never a screamer to begin with but then again it never let me down
Im also in the market for a good 145gr broadhead to tip these arrows with for pronghorn, im thinking the 145 Snuffers or Eclipse? Any suggestions or insight to my rambling would be great!
