Want to see your Big Jim Buffalo bows
« on: July 04, 2012, 04:55:00 PM »
I have been tossing around the idea of ordering one. Just want to see some wood combos. If you got one and dont mind posting, please share and let me know what the woods are.

Thanks
Ray

This is my Thunderchild (have a Buffalo on order). Desert Ironwood makes for a stunning bow.
I can't speak highly enough of the quality of Big Jim's bows. Not only do they look great, they shoot like blazes.
Check Big Jim's website; he has a slideshow of a bunch of his bows that might be of interest.

That Desert Ironwood does make for a nice looking bow.

I have spent alot of time looking thur Big Jims slide show. Only problem is I do not know what woods are what. Some photos state what woods were used, most do not. I know I like osage.

I shot my first BigJim bow at Compton 2012.   It was great!  I really like the look of his 3-piece Buffalos.  That would be the way I'd go,  I hope some of those show up on this thread.

Frenchy, do you have any close ups of the riser? I really like the dark color of the coco veneers.

Archie I would like to see some three piece bows show up as well. I have always wanted a take down.

Bishop I love the Cocobolo. One of my favorite woods. I wonder is Cocobolo and Osage riser would look good?
Thanks for the pics

Yes, coco and osage make a nice riser. Frenchymanny's bows are all that way.

Have a thunderchild 2 piece, made out of myrtle burl, and osage, own a lot of big name bows, and this bow has quickly become my favorite. 58 long and 50@28, haven't yet found an arrow that doesn't shoot good out of it. Can't wait for Sept, this is going to be my hunting bow. Can't go wrong with Big Jim, and one of the best warrantys in the business. Wish I could figure out how to put pictures on here.

Here is one of my 2 piece buff:

Note this is a take down 2 pieces, a sleeve system discreet, and easy.

Like BigJim said, all my bows are coco/osage, including the ThunderChild the Gentle Giant just made me.
I really appreciate the coco and the osage changing color over time
