When comes to big black bears Ken Taylor is the man to watch.    :notworthy:

He kills a GIANT black bear each year and it's not an accident. He scouts for them, hunts them and gets one every year...very impressive!

Look through these threads. It was last year that we discovered how successful Ken is when it comes to black bear hunting.

Cool thread.

This is my last bear taken 4 years ago.  These bears are so special and this one was no different.  At the time it felt too good to be true and it was because I cant kill another one for the life of me.  :banghead:
Of course I'm pretty picky now as well and give some stalks to friends but still I do struggle to get real close to these awesome animals consitently while hunting on the ground.  This bear was taken in wilderness via spot and stalk while still-hunting through the best bear habitat I can find. His skull grossed 19.0"

Randy, EXCELLENT! This is why I dont care about #'s. Whether your bear scored 19 or 9, you had one heck of an experience, and pulled off something very difficult! Spot and stalk takes all the skills we trad guys can muster. Congrats to you and everyone else on these fine bears taken!

Agreed Yornoc! I tip my hat to the spot and stalk guys. Someday I am going to try that. Beautiful bear Randy!

Man some nice bears in this thread.  Thats a cool older pic Randy.  That brute looks like a real behemoth.

It just occured to me that both of my spot and stalk bears have been killed the spring following the birth of my two kiddos.  Hmmmm.
Oh....honey!!! Now wheres my wife hiding??? I need to talk to that girl.   :D

Luck has nothing to do with it, just Boot leather and a GWP.

thanks, with a 21 inch and some change head I doubt I ever get a better bear although I have been looking and could have killed a bigger one on the Moose John River a few years back at 10 yards broadside, the outfitter had forgotten to pack our hide salt and since it was a DIY hunt we were alone with no salt and the hide would have surely slipped the hair as warm as it was so I decided to pass, frustrating but I am sure he was bigger he had a HUGE head but no sense killing such a fine animal only to have him spoil
