new fletching
« on: July 08, 2012, 07:23:00 PM »
Hey gang. Been using 3 5" fletch from day one shooting the stickbow. Want to try something else. Would like to try a shorter feather, and also leaning towards using 4 feathers.

Was hoping you all could post some pictures and ideas and thoughts.

Why not 3 4"?  I just went from 4" to 5", but didn't have any problems with 4s.  Parabolic seems a little quieter and a little less bow contact than shield, but never tried banana.

I just tried 4 fletch 4". Looked cool, shot ok on some of my bows but got contact on others. Tuned arrows good and went back to 3-4" and they fly great. No reason to waste another feather per arrow in my opinion.

Had a bunch of 5 1/2" shield cut feathers and didn't know what to do with them as they are too long for me. I tried to use a 4" shield chopper on them and they came out great so now I have a bunch of 4" shield cut feathers that I can use.

I've gone with the 4 four fletch at times myself.
