I've got a Stillwater Archery Osage selfbow that's a reproduction of the 1938 Bear Grumley.  It's a beautiful bow with the big, multi-wood static tip overlays.  My question is for you selfbow builders: I'm considering having it backed with snakeskins, and would like to know if this will add draw weight?  The snakeskins would still be authentic as I've seen pics of Fred holding one of these bows, plus I like the way it looks.

I think this is probably the last one he made.  I contacted him through some information provided by another member here, and he said he wasn't building them anymore.  He had 2 or 3 left that he'd built earlier but they were all too light in draw weight and too short for my draw length.  We emailed back and forth about the history of the Grumley bows for about 9 months when he told me he'd build this bow for me.  Couldn't be happier with it.  Quiet as in no sound, and very quick and easy to shoot.  I wish I'd ordered 2 of them; one with skins and one without.

I had a couple of his bows in the past...don't know why I traded them  :knothead:  For me they were too nice of craftsmanship & looked too much like a Grumley to cover 'em up  JMHO  Doc

It's 66" long.  67# @ 30".  I shoot Hexshafts out of it.  Throws them very nicely!
