Center Shot/Strike Plate Help

On my current bow, a Sarrels Blue Ridge SR I am working to replace the strike plate and a bit confused (not as to how to replace it, but affect on arrows).

I called Bob and was told the bows are cut to center and the strike plate throws just inside. Does this mean I am - 1/16th on Stu's calculator or + 1/16th? When I replace this, how do I measure the new dimensions? I know this will have affect on my arrows and I'm trying to figure it out.

That would mean you are - 1/16th. If you replace the plate material with something of the same density and thickness your arrow flight will remain the same. But this rarely happens. Chances are you will need to retune your arrows after replacing the plate material.

What is the best way to measure this?

There is no simple way to measure accurately. If the bowyer says it is cut to center go with that. You can then measure the thickness of the side plate and add. Or, if you really have nothing to do measure the fades above and below, mark the halfway points, join the points blah, blah-just measure the leather!

Ok, so if the bow is cut to center, shouldn't I set Stu's calculator to 0? Let's say I measure the strike plate and it's 1/16th thick, then I should enter 1/16th on the strike plate postion and not - 1/16th?

If the bow is cut to center and your strike plate is 1/16th then enter 1/16.

-1/16th would be if your bow was cut PAST centre by 1/8.

Yep, you are + 1/16 or maybe 1/8 if you use a thick material.

Your bow is +1/16th....just enter 1/16th in Stu's calculator.  I've got two BRSR's and traded one awhile back....they are all 1/16th with the velcro rest Bob provides.
