« on: July 10, 2012, 11:07:00 AM »
i am looking for a tape to apply to a metal ilf setup, riser and limbs, that i can rattlecan camo over the top of and peel off later with no pemanent effects and wont leave a bunch of adhesive.  Any related experiences out there?
If your shooting stinks, work with a Form master.  It'll bring back your A game.

Any painter's tape will work, like the blue stuff.Personally,I like the looks of paint jobs done with stencils, loosely held over the bow which gives not so sharp edges to the pattern. Some also use ferns or small leafy branches and spray over those to achieve some pretty neat patterns. It's easy enough to experiment on scrap cardboard till you find the technique you like.

Green frog tape is the best painting tape. A bit more sxpensive but worth it

3M blue painters masking tape or Painter's Mate green works great. I've used both on bows and aluminum arrows with good success.
One stick, one string and an arrow I'll fling!

I suggest making templates (cut out shapes) from poster board or even paper plates. Hold them against the bow 1/2 inch away. If you do this when spraying you'll get a soft edge vs. a hard edge. Also a few light sprays will give overlapping spaces, a see through feel. Gives you camo more  depth. PM me and I'll send you and image of a pac seat I just camoed up. Looks great. No taping, cutting, or masking needed.

if your going to have tape on your bow and leave it there, why not just use the cloth camo tape and forgo the paint, it works good! Oh and there's not that much residue and it comes off readily with alcohol. Make sure you get the "cloth tape" though. I put it on the grip of my bow year round to keep the slip factor down.

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!
