Glad it has all come together!  Good luck!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

I had my first elk hunt in '06 and my second one last year. My best recomemdation is to have fun and enjoy your hunt in the high country.

I did it for the first time last year.  It's an experience!  Have fun and enjoy it, it's not all about the killing.

That sounds like fun!  Last year was the first year I was able to go backpacking for elk in Colorado with my son (JJB on here), and we had a blast!  No elk in the freezer, but had some close encounters that I'll always remember.  I was just telling Jay last weekend that when it gets to be the end of August I'll probably have withdrawal for not being able to go this year!  Good luck!

Great stuff, I fulfilled that exact dream in 2009. 12 days with some good trad buds in the CO mountains. Although unsuccessful it was a fantastic experience. Don't forget to buy a small game license. Lots of tasty grouse sitting around to shoot at.

What state?

Most fun I've ever had. Physically tough, but nothing like it yet.

We are going to Colorado area 14, we are looking at it as a big backpacking trip with the opportunity to harvest an animal. Taking lots of pictures and enjoying the beautiful mountains at our favorite time of year.

Bernie how was the air out there did you have any problems with breathing

We were camped at 10,500 and hunting as high up as 11,400.  IT WAS TOUGH.  Didn't take long to catch back on the breathe, but we sure couldn't go far without taking a break.  WE ARE MAJOR FLATLANDERS.
