Need advice on Recurve set up
« on: July 12, 2012, 07:21:00 PM »
I have had my Samick Sage for a couple of weeks.  Shooting is not getting much better but, deffinitly learning. I just ordered a dozen GT 35/55 shafts at 29".  I also ordered a dz 100gr brass inserts.  I plan to shoot 125gr woodsmans for broadheads.  The bow is right handed, 50# @ 28", Draw lentgh is 28", split fingers with a glove.  Does this sound about right for an arrow set up?  I have read til my head hurts and dont have any Trad shooters very close to me.  I was also looking into a new string.  The bow is Fast flight capable.  Then I saw all the different kinds of ff stings.  Could really use some help on the string thing. Also if anyone makes good quality strings let me know.  Thanks

Try a SBD string.

Bow/arrow combination should work just fine. Lots of good string makers on this site.  Do a search in the vendor thread.  A 10-12-strand fast flite type string would work well on your set-up.  Good luck.

this is the ff string I have on my sage, my arrows I keep consistant to all my bows, 400 spline, with 100 insert and 200 grain broad head.
I might be moving everything to 500 spline to improve arrow flight a little.
my bow weight specs are on my profile.

I forgot to add that I put a set of cat wiskers and muskox balls on the string, she is quite them.

Thanks Hummer, Just ordered the same string!  I should be in good shape.  Get my arrows put together, tune em up with some inserts and maybe some heavier field points, new string!  Now I just have to learn how to shoot and I will be ready!  Thanks and keep the info coming!  It is much appreciated.

Second recommendation for an SBD string!
