Bow names?

How many here honor your bows by naming them?  Give us some examples and the story behind the name(s).

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

I named my Hill longbow OL Strutter. Not much of a story behind it. I love turkey hunting and a trophy bird is an ol strutter and so am I. Ha

I have gave my Shafer Silvertip several names all within a days afield.  Missed a 120 inch 8 point at less than 20 yards one morning only to call it a %^&$#$%.  Killed a slick head about 30 minutes later at about 25 yds only to call it "Horn Hater"  I would say the names were more of a reflection of me than the bow.  Right now it would have to go by the name of "Dust Collector" or "Underserved"  thankfully baseball tournys will be done with for a month or so after this weekend and I can start coaching myself back into some arrow placement rather than coaching others on baseball fundamentals.

I named a Bob Lee bow I bought 11 months after I quit smoking for good in 2005 Nosmo King.
                              no smoking

Still have not touched a cigarette since or any tobacco.
The name comes from a baby named that in our town. When asked why she named her baby Nosmo King
she said she saw the name on the double doors going in the delivery room.Nosmo on one door and king on another.True story.Kip

I have a Selway LiL Mag I used last year.  Shot a doe with it at 7pm and a little buck the next day at 7am, my first traditional kills.  Her name is "Deuce".

I name my bows after Blues artists or blues  songs...some have double meaning.

some of the names are:
double Trouble (stevie ray vaughan)
muddy (muddy waters)
little walter
the king (bb.king )
Ten Years after (a blues/rock group and the tenth year I was in traditional archery
Willy (willy Dixon)
Albert (albert king )
Hoodo Man
Robert (my dad and Robert Johnson )
Buddy Guy (the artisit and my brother Guy )

My BEAR collection bows don't have names yet but I am thinking of giving them names..but not bLUES related..
I have fun with it anyway...each year I have A THEME for hunting ...last year it was self bows...this year is "year of the BEAR...only using BEAR bows...next year is already planned..."this years for yew" only using yew bows

Kip, I have one named "no smoking" as well. Herb Meland, Pronghorn Bows, built this Ferret for me, then GAVE it to me when I quit the habit.

I have one Osage Selfbow, Sterling Holbrook gave me called Horse, because when he split the stave out it smelled like a wet horse.
The Osage Selfbow that I built, we call Shine, because the wood was so bright you just about had to wear sunglasses to work it.  Now its turned a mellow shade of osage.

Let's see. I've had:
"Sweetness", my most favorite lemonwood longbow.
"Ol' Thumper", a badly tillered Hickory selfbow that would loosen my fillings.
"Sally", a 40# Hickory that I made to shoot after I got a cast off my arm and didn't have much strength.
"Auntie G", another Hickory with a really fat handle, kind of like Aunt Gwen's arm. It was a pretty slow bow, too, again, much like Aunt Gwen.
"Dammit", one of my first fiberglass lam bows. It shot great with a really low brace height. If you didn't wear an arm guard, it'd sting you good and lead to some cursing fits.
"Ol' Hernie", a 90# Hill style longbow that some joker had marked as 50#@28". My buddies would hurt themselves trying to shoot it.

None of my bows actually have a name but I always refer to them as if they were female.

I have one with TJ, initials of wife and I.
One TJ 13 in honor of our 13th anniversary
One named Wesley, got from Craig after going to bob school.
One named Turkinator, from shooting first turkey with longbow.
Had one I named "SPOT" and wrote it on limb, it shot right where ever I wanted to hit, miss it.
Next bow will be "Seburn Surman", in honor of my father who passed away, and of course would lecture us instead of making us get a switch.

Two bows named, first one is "Sweet Sue" after my bride of 32 years and the other is "Hemothorax".
