I won't name the bowmaker I Recieved a longbow from but it was his personal bow he was selling. It was beautifull and marked 48@28. I named it Mary. It was the hardest 48lbs I ever drew. When I checked it , it was actually 55lbs. He exchanged it for another stock bow that was less weight. I named it Mary Mary. A week later the limb delaminated. A recurve was chosen as replacement and was named Mary Mary Quite Contrary!
That's funny and sad all at the same time!      :(

I have not named my two Howard Hills. They have to earn their names by earning their keep!   :D

I name some bows and neglect to name others...my most recent adventure in bow names actually involves a renaming...I was at a 3D shoot and a young lady pointed out the image of the face of a lemur in the bocote grain on one of my limbs...that bow is an RER LXR meaning it has two sets of limbs...by the time we were finished finding that face pattern we identified a total of nine...somehow I remembered that a lemur and a bush baby might be the same animal...with some research I learned they are different animals that are related with the same facial features...so with the static tip recurve limbs that bow is christened Zoboomafoo (a cartoon lemur) and with the longbow limbs attached I call it the Bush Baby Bow...one of the things I liked most about sorting out the names for that bow is what I learned about a couple of very interesting animals

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I name my Bear Grizzlies. One from the early 80s is called Bugs, because of a fluke kill-shot I made on a running rabbit at around 50 yards. Never make a shot like that again. My Green Grayling is called Fred, after its designer.

When I turned 40, I decided to reward myself by ordering a full custom recurve.  Since I was living in Australia at the time, I figured my bow should be all Aussie timbers made by an Aussie bowyer.  I named her "Austral Dreaming" to remind me of the wonderful 3 years I spent down under.

I just bought a Dave Johnson longbow named "Whitetail Magic." While I was curious about this red cedar bow, and I thought the black back/white belly looked cool, it was the name that sealed the deal. I really miss hunting whitetails!

I call my zipper sxt longbow "longstick". Long story short on that name; After I killed my first two deer with a longbow two weeks apart I told my friend "Shoot yeah dude I busted her with the longstick." after each kill. It just kinda stayed haha.

I purchased one of Gary Sentman's personal bows -- a Mid Grip model, 68" and 56# @ 28".  Really like that bow.  Gary named it "Last Mohican."

Never named any of mine until the one I hunt with now.  It is a BW PCH and I call it "Paceech".

My Green Mountain LB earned the moniker "Pua'a Kane" - Hawaiian for boar - when I killed one as my first big game taken on Oahu.

I'm new here, and new to archery in general. My first bow, which I just bought, had the most juvenile factory name for a bow that I've ever heard. I bought a greatree 'deerslayer' (I know, it's just a mass production bow, but it's my first, and I'm a student on a budget). Deerslayer!?! Who thought it was a good idea to let a 5th grader name that bow? Anyway.. I had to rename it. In geology, there is a sedimentary depositional environment called 'aeolian', which means that the sedimentary rock was formed in a wind environment. I like that.. formed by the wind. So I named the bow 'aeolian'.
End of line.
