Anyone hunt with a Martin Hunter recurve?
«

Gonna be getting a Martin Hunter from Hatrick and was wondering if any of you folks hunt with one. Good looking bows to me and have been around long enough to prove they have something going for them. Be a bit of a change for me shooting a recurve a bit but I think its gonna be fun.Post up some pics of your "hunter" kills or bows if you got them. Comments welcome.RC

I had one for a summer while I was shooting mostly longbows, it shot great and was very smooth. Never did hunt it though, now that I'm back shooting recurves, I wish I still had it...

Many, many times. By far my favorite mass produced bow. This was my favorite: I skinned it with a set of Mojave rattlesnakes.
Great shooting bows.

I looked into them, but bought a Mamba instead. I also have 2 Rebels. All good bows. The grips seem to fit my hand very well.

Great bow, long history. Many newer designs copy it's features.

can't be beat RC. I have a Howatt Hunter and its what I killed my deer with last year. I now have a Martin Bamboo Viper and I want to kill something with it this Fall. I'm a Martin/Howatt man with a Browning Nomad Stalker riding along with them.

I started with a Hunter and wouldn't sell for anything, too much sentiment, I shot MFX and Axis 500 with stingers, no hand shock, very quite and with a skinny string very fast. And the one your getting is a knockout.

Great skin job!
Very good bows, forgiving and accurate. I've shot a few muley bucks with a howatt and a ben pearson hunter.
Is the ben pearson relatively the same? The limb profile seems identical.

I think the Ben Pearson Hunter was quite a bit shorter if I remember correctly? Maybe not but I seem to remember it only being 58 or 60".

RC, that was my "first" bow!
Early b'day present in August of '64 from my dad! It was passed on to my grandson last year. It's still a great shooting and looking bow (62", 46#s @ 28"). You'll probably experience a longer draw length than your Hill type bows.

Went from longbow to a recurve and the first recurve I got to play with was a Martin Hunter. haven't shot my longbow much since and I haven't looked at another style to try due to the fact I love my Hunter. Plan on buying a brand new one in the future. Right now I'm loving the one I have.
I'm sure your longbow will get some bench time once you start shooting your Hunter.

I've been shooting longbows almost exclusively the last few years but recently got 2 Howatt HI-Speeds, a 45# and 50#er. Awesome bows! I'm on the lookout for a Hunter next.
You'll have fun shooting the new bow RC.

I have one I got from Mudfeather about 3 years ago. I don't have any pictures of it, but I will try to get some posted.

I think you'll enjoy hunting with it. I really enjoy hunting with my 1974 HHunter @ 45#.

My only bow is a Martin Hunter. I love it. Good smooth draw, and when I'm on the ball it's a smooth, fast shooter.

Had one a number of yrs back and traded it, been kicking myself ever since. I found mine to be smooth and consistent, as well as fairly quick.
