SE SD here. North of Sioux Falls 15 miles along the Big Sioux. Whitetails everywhere!

Does former count? I was raised in SD, first Brookings but mostly grew up in Rapid City. The Black Hills got me hooked on bowhunting!

Yankton.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

The "in the park" heard is way down. They are saying about 150 compared to the high of 950. The out of the park elk are down also, haven't heard the numbers on them, but they are not nearly like they were 4-5 years ago.
I was seeing them near my home close to Rapid then, but now I haven't seen any fresh sign around here for the last few years. It will take a few less cats and few less tags to bring the numbers back up.
