2012 Fun Shoot Round 4
« on: July 13, 2012, 05:33:00 PM »
Alrighty fellow toxophilites, here is round 4. This time, we are going to practice some shots that I've found to be useful for hunting on the ground in thick cover.

To prepare yourself, take 6 practice shots from 15 yards.

Shot #1 is from 20 yards. You'll be shooting bent at the waist, with your bow canted at a 45* angle.

Shot #2 is from 17 yards. You'll shoot while standing with your feet facing directly away from the target.

Shot #3 is from 14 yards. Shoot this one on your knees with the bow horizontal to the ground.

Shot #4 is from 11 yards. Shoot this one sitting down on the ground.

Good luck.

Glad to have 6 warm ups.  I took 3 kneeling bow flat and 3 sitting.  I hit my limb tip on the ground the first two sitting shots and would have missed the target twice on the kneeling shots. Looks like 24.

This one looks tough. I'm going out on a limb and predicting low scores on this one.

Do we get 6 practice shots the day we shoot for score, or 6 practice shots total?

Elknutz, 24 seems pretty darn respectible to me...

Take 6 practice shots right before you shoot the 4 scoring shots.

Wow. Time sure flies by. My yard just dried out enough to be able to get out and shoot round 3.

Here it is. Missed shot #3 - Score me a 14 and I'll get Round 4 done soon.

As much as I'd love to say, "28" the truth of the matter is that I missed with my first shot on all but the 3rd (knees) shot and that one was the 8.

Score me an 8

It was FUN though.   :archer2:

Looper you oughta be ashamed of yourself (I know I'm ashamed of myself). That top arrow is bending the plate but didn't cut it so I'm calling it a big 6 for this week.

Whatchu talkin bout? I thought that was a pretty good group. Especially since I was hurrying to get out of the way of the thunderstorm that was bearing down on me. I promise I'll do better next week.

I had to look up toxophilite too.  Learn something new every day......it's an "archer".  Cool!

Shoot, I went easy this time. The last round last year was pretty interesting:  http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=107147;p=1#000000

I laughed when my 4th arrow hit where it did, cause I was totally expecting to miss the target with it. The sitting shot is a butt kicker with a 66"long bow. I shot under the block my first two warmups, sitting at 15yds, cause my limb tip hit ther ground. This proves the old blind hog finding acorns idea.

Try it with a 70" bow and a gut like Buddha. If I had moobs, I'd have ripped my left nipple off.

Shot 1 = 4
shot 2 = 4
shot 3 = 6
shot 4 = 8
-------------
Total = 22

Best shot from the rump.... least fun shot from the 180* twist.... the should-a-been shot #1 (but it wasnt)
