Rinehart 100 Sparta Wisconsin, Anyone?
« on: July 14, 2012, 02:49:00 PM »
Is anyone going to take a trad bow to the Sparta Wisconsin Rinehart 100? They don't have a trad specific category listed but since it's only a few miles away I'm going to go. Hopefully I won't be the only one.

I posted this in trad events but there aren't as many people visiting that forum.

The R100 site shows a traditional class for all R100 shoots. I haven't shot one yet, but would like to some day.

Paul, the shoot's on 28-29 July at Silent Outdoors,12740 Janus Ave, Sparta, WI 54656. Silent Outdoors is a large archery shop with indoor/outdoor ranges, computerized range, and a little bar and grill. I've been by a couple of times to have a burger and chat. The guys are really nice, they just don't have more than one or two used recurves. Drop me a PM if you go and want to link up, I'm going with a buddy I work with who shoots wheelies. Hopefully you can make it. Anyone else?

I'm 175 miles away.  I could only go on Saturday, and that with a lot of juggling of my schedule.  I won't rule it out, as it sounds like a lot of fun... but would need a lot of convincing for the cost and miles.

Archie,
I went to the R-100 last year in SW Ohio.  It was the first time in the area and I live less than 10 miles from the venue.  I was too busy to go this year with work and I have to say I didn't miss it.  One reason, is paying $50.00 to wait in line behind the vast majority of compound shooters taking way too much time for their shots in the 100 degree heat almost prompted me to leave early.  The fact that we met up with a couple of other trad shooters and enjoyed their company made the day.  I am not against compounders but with over 350 shooters the bottle necks and waits at targets isn't what I was looking for.  I've heard the sponsors did a better job on it this year.  You may have a great time.  Take this for what it is worth.
