Well for the last few months, we've been playing hide and seek with these hogs. Too small, too fast or too thick. For one reason or another, she hasn't had the opportunity to connect.
Well it was a different story early this morning. Both being very excited, we headed to our hunting spot in the dark. On our way to our "honey hole", we heard some rustling in the brush ahead of us. "Too good to be true", I thought to myself. Fortunately for us, it was a sow rummaging in the bushes. Staci made her approach but as she did, the hog trotted away. I was sure the hog ran away, but the bushes started to rustle further down the trail. Staci signaled that she was going to stalk again. I crept to where I could see the both of them. Staci nocked her arrow. My heart started to beat faster and faster, I think I was more excited than her. "Shoot...shooot..shooooot..", I was hoping she could hear me yelling in my head. :D The pig turned quartering away and the shot went off! It looked like a perfect shot!
After some time and a quick blood trail, here is what we found. Staci's first traditional harvest! I'm so proud of my wife. She's put tons of time and energy into this sport and I'm so glad that she decided to join me in the "Stickbow Journey"
Aloha!
