The shot looked good. I could see her standing about 50 yards from the blind. All I could see was her back and rear. Her head must have been down. I was worried a bit.
I crawled out of the blind to get a better view, and to check my arrow. Arrow had bubbles on it, so I know I hit lung. I looked where she was, but couldn't see her. I snuck up over the rise, and she was down. I glassed her and could see that she was breathing, but her head was down. I backed out, and jumped in the blind for 15 minutes to give her time.
While field dressing, I found out I had hit the 7th rib, VPA broke it like a toothpick, then through one lung, out the intestines, then out between the 8th and 9th ribs. She was broadside. I just wonder if that arrow glanced a bit when it hit the first rib, or she spun so fast that the arrow got into her stomach? My friend watched it all from his blind, and thought I missed her. It happened so fast.
