Chip in finish, could it hurt my bow?
« on: July 16, 2012, 10:23:00 PM »
I've got a really small chip in the finish of my longbow right on the arrow shelf, it looks like it goes all the way down to the wood.
Do you think moisture could get in there and hinder the bows performance? If so, what kind of lacquer should I use to re-seal it? Can I get it from Home Depot?

Thanks and Semper Fi,
Zack

Super Glue will seal it.

X3-super glue.  All will be fine.

Bears can attack people- although fewer people have been killed by bears than in all WWI and WWII combined.

Super glue or 3-4 coats of polyurathane should work.

Use clear nail polish (lacquer based).
If God didn't want man to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of meat.

Zack, if you aren't sure how it happened and it is a relatively new bow you may want to watch it. I have a bow that the bowyer got a bad batch of finish and it is chipping off in quit a few places. Superglue it but if you see anymore spots you may want to ask the bowyer if he's had any issues.
