Shooting Again
«

Friend Larry (Grinch) asked me to let him know how the 45# lb bow (that I won in his last offer) shoots, once I could shoot again. Well, turns out I lost even more strength than I thought I did. I've been shooting the last two nights but the only bow I can draw to full anchor is a 35# Browning Wasp I have - for now. It is the one I bought for Lois (daughter) to shoot a couple years back but her shoulder wouldn't let her. Hopefully I'll be able to step up to the 45# soon, then my 47# and then my 50# by hunting season (I hope, I hope I hope), or at least the 47#er.

If you ease back into it, you should do just fine, but don't push it too fast.

Keep after it, Uncle Bernie, but not too hard or too fast! Just work your way back, slowly.
After I tore my rotator, I kept trying to shoot too much poundage, and like to have messed up. I was at one shoot and I couldn't get my bow to full draw. So I spent the whole first day shaving the weight off my "go to selfbow" got it down about 7#s and Thats where I'm shooting, now.
Just keep "Pulling, like a Herd of Turtles, toward the Creek!"

Yep, y'all got THAT right - (I'm good at "slow 'n easy" these days - LOL)
I even got out and mowed the dogs' yard yesterday and it felt so good that I jumped on the riding mower and did the rest of the ol' homestead - and still felt fine for the shooting that evening (after a shower and nap - LOL).

Oh, thanks, Killie, but I don't think so, on the shafts, though I seldom turn any down - LOL. Surprisingly, I found that my long, heavy tipped, carbons seem to shoot better out of the 35# Wasp than my woods, or aluminums (that I had set up for it for Lois). It was a shock to me - just tried them out for kicks to start with.

Glad you can start up again. I am sure it feels good to be shooting again, even if it is not the bow you wanted. You'll get there.
