Pumping out the Machetes

Decided to try my hand at doing a fading paint job with a rattle can.  Not to bad, but like all things there is room for improvement.

Mike - if you can do that well with a rattle can, imagine what you can do with a $30 air brush?

I have been thinking of getting one of those ever since I got done.  Might be my next thing to pick up.

Thanks for the compliments guys.  About a week ago, I had a cool dream and woke up.  I went down to my shop and started putting together what I saw in my dream.  This is the closest I could come to what I saw.  I honestly think I have a problem when I even dream about arrows.

If you decide to do it Mike, get a dual action airbrush with a top mounted paint hopper.  I bought an Iwata Neo from hobby lobby for about $30.  I use my normal air compressor with the output gauge set at about 40# and use water based airbrush paints.  I've only done some simple stuff for the youth arrows....but like you...I've always got ideas poppin' into my head.     :knothead:

I'm glad you did join in.  I really like how those look.  I would love to see anybody's arrows that have done a fading paint job.   Those look really cool Rob.

All I use for paint is the rattle cans from Home Depot.  Just make sure to NOT buy the quick drying ones.  You want the paint to be able to flow together, not dry in an uneven mess.

Chuck, that green set was for a fellow who likes the comic book character, Green Arrow. He gave me a description and I ran with it.

In answer to glue and paint, I use Createx airbrush paint, gasket lacquer clear coat, and Duco glue.
