SC Hog Stickin' with Ray Hammond
« on: July 22, 2012, 10:06:00 AM »
The dates - arrive evening of August 16th and hunt through mid-morining on Sunday, August 19th.

Private land spot and stalk (bring your ghillie suit or lightweight camo) at Ray Hammond's Hog Heaven near Allendale, SC.

Purpose - to put extremely sharp broadhead-tipped arrows into the kill zone of tasty hogs.  Also, unlimited stumps on license, unlimited skeeters (according to Ray, they grow 'em big  ;)  ), possible a coyote or two.  Possibly a side trip to shoot some sporting clays.

Good food, good company, and all the laughs and lies that you can stand (remember, what happens in huntin' camp, stays in huntin' camp  :) ).

According to US Prime Time, this will be the weekend to be in the woods (swamp?) with tremendous game movement during both day and night hours.

Join the fun!  Contact Ray Hammond about details ([email protected])  or check out hammondknives.com!

See you there!

Make sure Ray releases the hogs the day before you arrive than the day you are leaving, like he did to me!

I know you will have a ball. I would tell you to have a drink from the alcohol I brought down Memorial Day, but I am betting Mike and Ray knocked that off pretty quick.

Don't eat the stuffed pork!!!!

Good luck

Gil

PS - tell Ray to mail me my hunting clothes.

I left a sleeping bag at Rays back in February myself. Just checked my calendar and can't go that weekend. First Saturday practice of the Fall Soccer Season falls that weekend. :-(

LOL!! Ray. The sleeping bag was not a big deal. It is blue and a not so very expensive Coleman job. I think when I remembered I had left it I told you to just keep it in case someone else comes to camp without one. Not a big deal at all, I may be out a grand total of 9 bucks!!!

You are lucky I deleted the PM. I seem to remember someone saying they will mail it out as soon as my package arrived so you would have a return address.

I may take some of them on a different hunt.

Hey Ray, nice update to the old website    :bigsmyl:

I can't do this one, but I do love hunting pigs when it's hot and dry! Best of luck to everyone who gets in on this one!

BTW if you plan to wear a burlap bearsuit in the summer in SC I pray you drag along a ton of water!

dang if only it was a week earlier...our season opens on 15 Aug here in SC Lowcountry...and like was mentioned the charts all say high animal movment...

I have been seeing a nice 8 point in velvet and few smaller bucks already during daylight hours near a couple of my setups......I need to try and finally get a velvet buck for first time in my life.

If you do another of these give me a yell...not that far from Charleston.

Brock,

Good luck with the velvet buck.  I, too, have a passion for a buck in Velvet.  Had an early September Kentucky velvet hunt planned, but fate (and life) interviened.  Maybe 2013!

If successful, please send pics!

Brock,

Its the best weekend of the entire year, I believe.

That's why I booked it for Bob....I hope some others join us because I think its going to be 'Schlachterhaus Funf' at Hog Heaven that weekend.
