What feather's shape do you prefer?
« on: July 24, 2012, 06:43:00 PM »
I saw a lots of beautiful arrows on a recent post here. As I was looking through the pictures, I could not help but noticed there aren't many traditional shape feather. So my questions are, what shape do you prefer and why? I myself prefer traditional shape purely for  the look of it and of course, stability.

I prefer the standard shield shape....but have used Pope and Young cut a few times but I always put them too close to the nock and the tip of feathers makes noise against my fingers.
Below you see first set of gray barred in PY cut; then red in reg shield, and then natural barred in a low profile shield.

I used to use shield cut, but I find the parabolic is a little quieter.

Shield cut, but I do find that some may be noisy in flight.  I have never had parabolic be noisy though.

I like a shape that I burn. Its a mix between traditional and pope and young.

If I buy them, I go with shield, just like the look more.

I use Parabolic. It is easier to come by in my area and is a little quieter than shield cut.

I usually use parabolic because I can find them easier in pink flourescent yellow.

I use the 5 inch shield cut.  They work fine but can be noisier than the parabolic if ruffled.  Parabolc are the quietest.  God Bless

I used to shoot 5in parabolic but now I've made the switch to a 3in low profile traditional. I like lots of shapes but I insist on lower height than what most shoot.
