Finally!! Pictures of my (RAY"S) new Centaur Take-Down!
« on: July 30, 2012, 03:18:00 PM »
After a learning curve with PhotoBucket, I believe that I'm ready to go.

Here is my new Centaur Dark Matter Take-down.  58"  55#@28".  Aoudad horn on tips and Cottonmouth skins on limbs.

Thanks to Jim Neaves, Comber, Snakewood3, Gordy @ Selway and all the other TradGang members who gave me their input on this bow.

Now I just need to name it - any suggestions?!   :)

Hi Bob, very nice looking bow. Just curious as to how the two pieces are held together. Are they pinned or screws ?? Easy to assemble,.. need any tools etc? Thanx,...Lloyd

Don't bring that thing to hog camp!  A gator might get you then I'd have to take care of that thing and I've got enough chores every day!!!    :bigsmyl:

Very nice! I too am curious as to what keeps the two parts together. Looks like 2 screws/bolts? Thats a first for me to see a takedown of that nature.

Lloyd and Stu J,

Held together by two allan bolts - so yes, a wrench is needed (as is with most 3-pc take-downs).  In conjuction with the pins in the riser, makes for a very stable and strong system.

As I understand, this is a similar system used in the Thunderhorn 2-pc. Take Downs.

I am awaiting (patiently - NOT) for the bow to arrive via USPS Insured Priority Mail.  The pics posted were taken by Jim for possible feature on his website.  Already thinking about arrow combination with a good 190-210 gr. broadhead combination (Simmons Tree Sharks and Centaur Battle Axes).

Still working on a name  :) !  Thinking Black Death or Poison or something along those lines.  I chose Cottonmouth skins because they are one, mean a%@ snake - will agressively come after you.

I'll keep you posted on how it shoots (which I know will be great).  Gordy Mickens with Selway Archery is getting over 200 fps out of his with an approx. 10 gpi set-up!  I'm stoked!!!  Thanks for all of the kind comments!
