Broadheads for Bears

I.m going bear hunting in Sept. and I will be shooting 48#,s with 150 Stingers. My question is would you use 4 blade or 2 standard or buss cut?

I'd chose the 4 blade. It will open the hole a little and that can help with blood trailing since bears have such thick hair which absorbs a lot of blood.

Smooth edge or serrate Buzzcut is more of a personal choice. Either will do fine.

I would go with the Four as Charlie said as well.  Bears are thin skined and can seal up quick.  A little extra wont hurt.

3 or 4 blade especially on fall bears, there is more fat to plug the holes .Anything in North America you can kill with a 2 blade you can kill with 3 or 4 blade heads the only difference is with multi blades they are easier to find !!

I say 4 as well. Bears are not tough to penetrate. Have a great hunt.

I'm hunting bear in September and the odds of arrowing a bear are good. Chances of whacking a 300 plus pounder also decent. I'll be shooting my 60 pound Northern Mist longbow with Wensel Woodsman 3 blade heads. I've killed bear in the fall before with a 2 blade head, but like the others stated a little bigger hole will aid in tracking for sure.

Kinda depends on the weight of your bow.  Being an old man and shooting 50# and down, I want pass through shots for blood trails.  I now will only use heavy two blades and only broadside shots.  Slightly quartering away has a much greater chance of skipping out with the bears conical chest and wide ribs.  JMO...tippit

160 gr Snuffers....3 blade head opens up a large hole. Single blade broad heads work well also when razor sharp. Put the arrow into the vitals and your bear won't travel more than 50 yds.

In the big picture, taking everything into consideration, for the best rate of recovery by average trackers = 3 or 4 blade... but keep away from the shoulder.
