Honestly, I try hard to get my bow silent without the addition of silencers....and THEN I add them.

My first choice is natural wool, my second choice is some kind of fur, like beaver. Wet, full of burs...never a problem.

Ive used wool but I prefer the Navajo silencers from Centaur, they have natural lanolin/wax that wool yarn doesnt have.  The natural wax helps them wick away moisture, and hold together better then the standard woll yarn type.

The best ones are those little foam ear puffs....really! you just roll them up and put one in each ear and PRESTO!!, That string gets REALLY quiet!!  Other than that...the woolie whispers are very light and effective...or raise your brace height and maybe serve a little spun lambs wool right at the string/limb contact point......VIOLA....works for me....good luck...john

I have used Navajo String Silencers from Centaur Archery for several years now and have been very impressed with them.  I haven't found anything yet that works better or that lasts longer.

Love the look of beaver but get a quiter bow with cat whiskers(I've got lots of yarn tried it ,back to cat) but I wrap all my string ends with double wrap of wool
As we get older our bow weight goes down and our body weight goes up, One of Lifes little jokes.

I just got 3 pair of Hush puppies from Terry
(Thanks Terry for the quick shipping they got here yesterday,I appreciate it)
The wool yarn reminds me of the wool in my Swannie sweater, stiffer and coarser than regular yarn.I put a set on my String follow Hill yesterday and shot it today. Without the silencers it was pretty quiet with just a little twang. With them on it's just a very soft dull thud.VERY quiet.
Only tip I have is don't leave your mouth and eyes open right after you release the first shot, these things go off like a firework from the dollar store!!!! Little wool fibers everywhere! After about 12-15 shots they stop shedding and puff out to look just like a cattail head. I'm very happy with them.

Heavy arrows
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

Cat Whiskers for me for as long as I can remember. Weather-proof, assorted colors...and they work.

To me cat whiskers are loud as heck. Tied some on last night shot a few groups to get them flared out and promptly took em off. Went back to wool
