What George said. I like to paint green, first. Then hold a sweetgum leaf and/or ferns, and overspray with black.

I just like those two, in particular.  :archer:

If you rough it up, you're gonna give the paint something to stick to. & It isn't gonna be easy to remove if you decide to do so.

Thanks BUCKY, Woodduck and LAR43. Oops! The bow is already roughed up. Guess I am at the point of no return! I am thinking of green then black. I may call it rana which is Spanish for frog. Seems that I have seen a lot of Leopard Frogs lately while scouting.

Good old Hoyt Gamemaster, not all that purty. But a real value in a not all wood beauty.JMO

Finished painting my bow this morning. I went with flat black then dusted it with a gray primer to give it a smokey look. I decided not to use green. It turned out OK.
