How many critters have you taken with the same broadhead?
« on: August 07, 2012, 08:28:00 AM »
I've never kept track.  I took a bear this spring with a brand new Woodsman. I sunk the arrow in up to the fletching, and the arrow dropped out after only a few steps, and the head was still scary sharp.  the arrow broke at the fletching, so I can only recyscle the broadhead.

I touched up the edges abit and I mounted it back on a shaft and its back in the #1 spot in my quiver. I'm going to keep track of it.

I'm just wondering how many have YOU taken with a single head?

I have one ACE 160 that I have taken maybe 6 or seven rabbits  , two goats and a pig with ... its now mounted on my bookcase ... it was the broadhead that refused to die , get lost or break regardless of what I did to it

I am not real sure, but several.  I used the same Zwicky Delta 4 blade for about 3 years.  I killed 4 or 5 deer with it every year until I lost it.  I shot a hard quartering doe and the arrow did not completely pass through.  The broadhead end of the shaft broke off when she ran through brush and I never seen it again.

I used the same arrow for those deer too.  As you can guess, that was the end of that streak...

I don't keep track for the BH's. The arrows get a note written on them and reused until they are broken or lost.

I took a coyote, a whitetail, 6 squirrels, and a ground hog with the same eclipse. I did shoot a big gobbler with it, but he took it with him when he flew into a thick patch of swamp.  I think I was just as upset over losing that broad head as I was over losing the turkey.

When we had doe tags I was trying to see how many I could get with one my single bevel Hills, but it seems that every other doe I shot the arrow just seem to vanish, never to be seen again. I have the same problem with Hunter Heads, where do they go, bloody broadhead heaven?

7 deer is the most I've managed to kill with one head before losing it.  Original Simmons Interceptor.
