Another Dave Johnson
« on: August 12, 2012, 11:17:00 AM »
Had to get help figuring this photo thing out but here goes.  I received  my Dave Johnson longbow a little over a week ago.  Dave was a pleasure to work with and does a neat job of keeping in touch with you!  I have made selfbows and bamboo backed bows for years but this will probably be my only time at buying a custom bow for myself.  I chose Dave to do this for me.  Here is my bow as it came out of the oven!

Here is the bow cleaned up.  I wanted a vintage Dave Johnson longbow and this is a myrtle riser!

That myrtle has some character. I ordered one Friday. He said he took three orders the day before.

I want to be able to pass this bow on to one of my kids someday.  Named it Remember When so they would remember the memories!  I wanted a vintage Dave Johnson longbow.  Black glass back, white glass belly, myrtle handle, and three lams of red cedar! The bow came in a little over 50# and Dave added and inch (67" ntn)  for my 29" draw.  The bow's cast is very impressive.  It is a lot of fun to shoot!  Thanks Dave.

Beautiful. I like the way Dave tillers his bows. They look like they bend almost to the handle.

Thanks everyone--It is a beautiful bow with great cast.  Cahaba I talked to Dave on that very subject.  Arne, will show you this bow next summer and hopefully we can shoot them both!  Been checking on those MN temps and wishing we were still there!  Very hot and bad drought here in KS.  Take care---Shane

REALLY BEAUTIFUL!!!

Glad to see more of his work showing up.  Been wanting one for a while now.  I hate selling things to get other things, but in this case I may have to suspend my rule.

Thanks for posting it for other to enjoy.  Feel free to post more pics if you are so inclined... :)

I bought Lambow's (Eric's).  It's a work of art. It's almost too beautiful to shoot...almost.  Man do they shoot.
