Help me decide! Which VPA
« on: August 13, 2012, 03:58:00 PM »
I'm trying to decide between the 175grain 3 blade or the 2 blade. What are your experiences and thoughts ? My setup will be a RER xr 57 @ 28 or a Centaur 58 @ 28 with a 5575 GT arrow. I'm shooting the 5575's now with good results. Looking for a solid and reliable broadhead.. I've already seached the forum just looking for your 2 cents

Thanks!

You can't go wrong with those heads, both are very tuff!!   Having the extra blade cutting thru your game can only be a plus!!

3 blades like the VPA, Woodsman, Snuffer have proved to produce big holes and awesome bloodtrails. You've got plenty of bow too, I say 3 blade!

Which can you get sharper?

Either head will take care of North america game and most ( if not just about all) bigger game too.

If it's for deer, you have plenty of bow, so I would go with 3 blade.  I shoot slightly less, but used 250 3 VPA Terminators last year and this year.  They are rock solid.

It's mainly for deer and elk . I'll be using a lanky sharpener . To be honest I'm the most nervous about how I'm going to get them sharp . I also was looking at the sharpening method on YouTube using a file . What works best for you guys ?

The Lansky won't work on a 3 blade but there are some good methods for sharpening those.Don't forget to go to the How To,Resouces section. You should be able to find plenty on different sharpening methods.Don't be afaid to ask questions once you get into it.

You won't regret it. Outstanding broad heads!
