Been hunting the ground again this year, and love it. Sat near some red oaks and had deer within 30 yards of me for 2 hours solid and never got spotted or smelled. 2 bucks and 2 does, one was a big 7 point with a freaky right side. wearing a ASAT leafy suit, lots of fun, no shots yet.

My brother has never bow hunted for Deer, but has desided to since I built him a hickory self bow last christmass. We're going out Saterday to see what we can do. Hunting from the ground[ no blind]using blow downs for cover. Found were a young buck is scraping and rubbing.A blow down within range of this activity should hopfully see some action. Would love to see him tag one. I'll be more excided than he will if he gets one.

Took a bow hike in the big woods today up near Wells N.Y. Went in a couple of miles, looked around ,sat for a bit and then hiked/ stumped my way out. Saw a bit of deer sign, still a lot of foliage on. It was cool....35 degrees when I got there and 36 when I left 4 hours later.....a bit of rain also. There is nothing like that country to revitalize your spirit!

Good luck to you and your brother David!

Hey Ron, I am heading over near Wells this week-end.  Actually about 12 miles south of there in Benson.  I need my spirit revitalized in the mountains     :bigsmyl:

I decided to check my trail cam. threw the bow in just in case.  I had been bothered at the lack of deer for the past 2 weeks. I wont hunt there again for another week and then will give it another weeks rest while I am hunting in WI.

I saw a huge group of deer, I estimated about 8 in total.  I hunkered in the bushes and sat till dark but they were content out in the alfalfa field.  checking my sd card tonight.

Has anyone else noticed oak trees that were dropping like crazy 3 weeks ago and getting hit good by deer are now all dried up?  that seems to be the case on this particular property.

Made it out for the first time today. Had to go between bus stop times so I decided to still hunt/scout.
Sign was very promising. I ended up seeing 8 does, two bucks and three grouse. I was close enough for two shots, but never put tension on the string.
I was hoping for a turkey,  :)

I know we've kinda talked about it in passing on here, but anyone whos around sat or sun and wants to hunt stewart with us is welcome. It should be "memorable" for sure, cant elaborate more on here what that might mean!  :archer:

I was sitting in some oaks this week and it sounded like rain thenin another spot nothing in the trees at all . I think some trees produced good and some didn't at all.   Hopefully this weekend will be a buck weekend.

Awesome evening.  Saw 6 does and 3 bucks.  I had 3 does all within 20 yds at the same time while leaning against a 5" maple!  I couldn't move!  Then Big Momma winded me and informed everything within 500 yds of my presence.       I need to let that spot cool down for a week or so. Headed to State land tomorrow a.m.  before I go back to work.

Had a close encounter last evening, had a doe come in stood broadside around 22yrd.I pulled up ever so slow and drew on her.I didn,t release, something was,nt right. When she strolled out of range I stared at that spot where she stood and saw why I didn,t shoot.wire size branches hanging down in front of the zone. But when she offered the shot,I looked right through them.Glad I held off.Had two spikes come through this morning no shot though mighty cold.this ground game is real fun.Just hope I can score.
