Just back from the mountains myself and here's what my few days was like.

Good news so far:
Plenty of deer (small bucks so far)and bear by me in Monticello area.

Bad news:
I shot clean under a fat doe at 20 yards!!!!
No excuses. I blew the shot!

And a nightly visitor into our apple trees......

I originally reported that I shot "under a fat doe the other day.
I cant lie, it did bother me that I would miss a shot by that much!

However.......
My brother just sent me this picture of my doe.
I didnt shoot under her as I thought. Looks like my shot was pretty much on target and she DUCKED THE ARROW!

She is doing fine after a week sporting a Wensel Woodsman hide slice!
Makes sense actually.
She was pretty nervous at the time. She was giving me the foot stomping, occasional look up at me in the tree and very tense.

Ive not had a good season at all. Got a call Thursday morning that my Uncle passed away peacefully in his sleep. Very sad as his son is 32 with a 2 year old son and they were all very close. My cousin is lost, my Uncle was one of our favorite hunting partners so just going in the woods behind my house will be very emotional. He was an avid deer and turkey hunter and killed some FINE bucks here in NY. He will be truly missed!

Sorry for your loss Nick. Hopefully you will remember all the good times had.

I have made it out a few times but have missed 3 days caring for a failing Grandmother.  I wont regret missing hunting for something like that.

Today I saw a HUGE Fisher. That was pretty neat. Only was able to be out for a few hours before I was called out of the woods due to Grandma.

Tomorrow I am leaving for a trip to hunt (and see family) in Wisconsin.  I wont be posting  here about my adventures but will check in on others.

Good luck everyone.
