Good luck to all in NY.  After working so many years for a 10/1 opener, it finally arrives and I am in NC now.  The season opens here this Sat., but I wish all of you luck.

Great pics Izzy. Getting real close now, the boys are dropping velvet and the white oaks are dropping down here.  Joe

Good luck with that shot Susan. Sometimes they do wonders. I wasn't that lucky for my shoulder but it takes care of my knee everytime.

The last one worked for 3 months so I'm hopeful this one will get me through the season. Curse arthritis!

Called Buffalo Regional DEC office. There is as of now no youth gun hunt mid october but it is yet possible! Lol keep checking they said! What suspense this year! Who would have traded two extra weeks for 3the days of rifles in the woods? Sorry but not me! Don't get me wrong im all for a youth season of any sort but what's wrong with fri sat Sunday before a Monday opener??? Extended archery season in late December use to be a cold snowy experience rich in peaceful solitude ... now our primitive 2nd season is filled with scoped Savave muzzle loaders burning smokeless rifle powder out to distances that will make anyone say... WOW! I have to wonder at what price we are trying to hold the attention of the next generation of young hunters? Its hunting its suppose to be difficult and learned and earned with boot leather... for me the more challenging an accomplishment is the more euphoric its benchmarks become... ok ill stop! Back to the wood pile! :)

Saw 2 doe and 2 fawns and a big old, brave coyote who stared us down only to walk off into a spruce bog before Noah could get the camera focused on him. No worries though, to see a big, old, Adirondack yote from 15 yards away is a primordial thrill. The boys and I thought so.

I located a pretty good looking funnel that I will hunt a time or two before southern zone. Now Im really pumped as if it wasnt bad enough already. A few pics for you all.
Wow, that is some beautiful country!! I hope I can make it up there for a hunt one day!

Just got back home from the ADK's , spent a week there for family vacation. Could not believe the amount of turkeys we saw to and from the Saranac Lake area. No bear or Moose seen yet, someday maybe, early bear season starts today.

Yesterday while horse back riding, I not only saw some new heavy trails through some tall grass, I also saw a Rub on a Sumack tree the size of my leg.  So I dismounted and moved my Camera. My camera had 19 pictures on it since the day before. I know 4 were from me riding past but I was too dumb to swap out SD cards to be able to view the pictures.
Relax,
