I took this young 8 last saturday. I was hunting some public land and saw him rubbing and making scrapes. I gave a bleat and a few grunts and he came in fast. He paused just as he hit one of the few shooting lanes I had. As I released, he took a step and I caught him in the liver. He took 2 steps and just stood there and it was too thick to get another shot into him. He finally bedded 18 yards from me but it was so thick that every time I took my eyes off of him, it would take 5-10 minutes to locate him again. I waited over 2 hours until I climbed down, hoping he had expired in that time. He had and I didn't even have to do any tracking.

Thanks guys I was using the 50# Shrew classic hunter carbon that my wife bought me last year, cedar arrows and 250 grain VPA Terminators. Last week was the first time I've hunted with this bow.

Tony- Yes it was

Nice one Skipmaster!

Good tactic - being patient and letting the head and hemmorage do it's work.    :clapper:

Nice animal Greg...should eat real well.

Drove about 2 miles up the road to one of my river bank honey holes. Perfect wind...north. Deer bed east, head up a couple ridges, then north to the feeding area.

Got situated at 1pm...strong winds. Sat there until 5pm and never seen anything. Not even a squirrel...Maybe tomorrow....

Now is when I like to jump Does, and then sit down wind of the trail they took. Time to get more aggressive!

Had the same experience as Joe Skipp today, but did see one squirrel, right before dusk, he came down the tree, waked over to the pond, got a drink, and went right back up to his nest. Never watched a squirrel drink before. Other than his neighbor, a red squirrel, that was it for the whole afternoon, not even a chickadee. Weird day.
