A wonderful story Roger. Sounds like you had a Dad very similar to mine. Almost like reliving my childhood, wonderful memories.

Man o man, to think what we used to do to shoot our bows.  I had a green fiberglass job...nameless and rough, but it flung arrows!  I used to strap that puppy to the frame of my big paper route bike and ride daily   miles through the streets of DETROIT  to one of the city parks that had an archery range.  I look back and shake my head; I am pretty lucky    ;)

Great memoir.

It is not too far off from my own in fact.  Like I think you did, I also grew up in MI and had family who worked for Bear Archery.

I also had a brush with compounds.  Lasted too many years.

Somebody called me about this story yesterday,they asked how I thought to keep my bows, especially the 2 kid bows....I didn't, it was pure luck. I really wish I had more of the arrows from back then. I recently rediscovered a couple old Bear Microflights that were matched to the last bow in that story, the Super Kodiak TD.

Roger, we took the long way home from Comerica Park yesterday to see the old neighborhood.  It was rough...

I have a 1968 Super Kodiak to remember the year I was born.  We are blessed with incredible bows today, but those SKs do not give up much at all to them     :thumbsup:

I just picked up some yellow Microflight arrows off of fleabay to accompany my 1971 Super K that I'll be done refinishing later this week. It's a beautiful shooter and I agree with Steve, they'll shoot with any of our bows today as far as accuracy goes.
