easiest to find arrows
« on: August 27, 2012, 12:57:00 PM »
IYO what is the best color for finding arrows?
Ive used white and yellow feathers and dip/wrap but still have issues finding stray arrows.
I was thinking of flo pink.
Any suggestions??

These are small game arrows that tend to go away after missing a squirrel or wabbit

The best arrow for finding is the one that didnt miss   ;)   Sorry, couldnt resist.

Seriously:
Flo Pink with Flo pink wraps and pink nocks   :saywhat:

But also the shaft is important imho. A lighter shaft like the GT Trads is easier for me to find then a black one. Best to find if the feathers are burried are the Ted Nugent Shafts, white or pink, though i understand they arent for everyones liking. But with the white Nuge shafts and pink feathers the arrow has to be completely covered to not be found.
And sometimes our dreams they float like anchors in hopeless waters oh way down here

Easton Blues really stand out in the backyard range or in the woods. I combine the blue shaft with white, chartruse, or orange fletching and nock for a very easy to find arrow.

I use pink with pink caps.  That works for me most of the time as long as it isn't buried.

During daylight hours I find it easiest to see the orange.  In lowlight conditions I'm partial to the flo. green.  Just works for me....YMMV.

Got a labrador?   My old girl would find them.  I trained her by putting a dab of scaent on the fletching

I do use char and pink on my bunnie busters

That's funny right there. I lost an arrow in my yard this summer and spent over an hour searching for it. It had florescent orange wraps and four florescent green feathers.  I even tried using a metal detector to no avail. I got a new lab puppy and decided to take a break and play with her awhile. Within five minutes she had the arrow and expected me to chase her for it, which I did.

Pink, Chartreuse, flourescent orange in that order.  For me, blue is a great color, too; however, I hear some say that deer can see blue real well.

The next batch I'm trying is going to be flo yellow with flo green zebra print and flo pink feathers.  They'll be the ugliest arrows on the planet but I'm betting that they'll stand out when stumping.

On a side note, I think flu-flu's are much easier to track in flight and find on the ground than regular fletched arrows.  For that reason, I prefer stumping and small game hunting with flu-flu arrows.

Pink during daylight hours...during dawn and dusk chartreuse just about glows!
